The Esplanade is at the heart of the stunning St Clair beach in Dunedin New Zealand. We serve beautiful Italian food made with highest quality ingredients paired with a local and Italian-inspired drinks list.

Our doors are open from early in the morning and close late in the evening.
Being at the heart of the hugely popular St. Clair beach, we are a destination restaurant for many loyal customers, as well as tourists and those seeking an authentic taste of Italy.

About the role

This is a challenging and exciting role for someone with initiative, energy and passion. You will be an integral part of the kitchen team working in the pizza section with our wood-fired oven, making Napoletana slow-rise dough and using Italian ingredients.

What you’ll need to offer

–     3 years Experience as a pizza chef in a fast kitchen environment

–        Reliable, organised, quick, and calm under pressure

–        Passionate about pizza and open to learning our systems and how we do things

–         Excellent communication & organisation skills

–        Expertise with hand stretching dough

–       Expertise managing a wood-oven

What we can offer you!

At The Esplanade we offer comprehensive training and induction. This will include understanding our food, as well as understanding the culture of the restaurant and our customers.
When you work with us, all staff are entitled to a discount when dining. All staff are also provided with a staff meal and beverage.

Our working week is 5 days on followed by 2 days off. 
We will provide you with your first weeks accommodation when you arrive.
We will also help you find a permanent place to live. 
Pay rate is p/hr $27-32 NZD plus 8% holiday pay.
Rate will depend on your experience.
We can offer a year contract
